Family Politics

It's interesting how a family business works. The kids grow up, parents get old, ways of doing things move from action to memory. We do things because we are attached to that memory. Emotions connect us to the past and propel us into the future. We are dreamers and can achieve what we imagine. I don't know how all this will work out as far as family unity. But we can propel our company into the future as long as we work together. Everyone wants to be a creator, and there is room to do this if love is the answer. Power, greed, possession, contention, do not take the place of caring. We are all trained by Paul, our father and grandfather to believe in ourselves. We need to control things, not people. We need to give respect to each person and living thing if we want God to enliven us with his Spirit and promote our success. In this past year that I have been the General Manager of Alpine Gems, there have been good times and bad. I would like my brother Ben to have the "power to act" and create what he envisions for the ranch. I also want the power to create a place for artists to learn about sculpting, right here at the ranch. Our first sculpting class taught by Alvin Marshall will be in March, we hope through the SUMA art gallery where we hope to have it. Once utilities are up and working at Summit, maybe the ranch would be the location. In any case, sculptors beginners or professional, you can purchase your place to learn how to put emotional energy of the four directions into your work. This is an amazing opportunity. Check it out on our website. Space is limited to 10-15 students.
